Growing up in Methuen, D.J. Beauregard learned the only way to achieve success is by working hard. He’s a proud product of the Methuen Public Schools, and he worked his way through college, eventually earning his Master of Business Administration degree. Today, D.J. resides on Fenwick Circle with his wife, Hillary, and their daughter, Audrey.
D.J. started his professional career in the financial sector with the Armstrong Advisory Group, an independent investment advisory firm based in Needham. He went on to start his own small business, serve as the Town of Arlington’s Economic Development Coordinator, and work to expand opportunities for economically disadvantaged students from Methuen and surrounding communities at Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School.
In 2020, D.J. joined the Methuen City Council and began working alongside the late Mayor Neil Perry to reform our city’s local government after years of controversy and mismanagement. D.J. partnered with Mayor Perry and his City Council colleagues to pay off a $4 million deficit and clean up the Methuen Police Department following numerous scandals that shook the public’s faith in government. D.J. also collaborated with State Auditor Diana DiZoglio to ban the use of taxpayer-funded nondisclosure agreements in Methuen, and he authored several pieces of landmark legislation that provided expanded tax relief to Methuen’s seniors and veterans.
As we look to the future, D.J. plans to follow the Neil Perry path and continue the work of moving Methuen forward. As the Acting Mayor of Methuen, D.J. has already hit the ground running. During his first week on the job, D.J. signed a three-year agreement that will lower electric utility rates for Methuen residents by roughly 20 percent this winter. This month, D.J. will finalize the purchase of the Searles Estate to protect our city’s history for future generations. D.J. is a fiscal conservative who will continue to take steps to keep our fiscal house in order, prioritize public safety, invest in our schools and roads, care for our seniors and veterans, and streamline the process of starting a business in Methuen.
“Methuen’s local government has made great strides since we took office in 2020. The proof is in our progress. We can’t afford to risk going back – we must keep moving our city forward. That’s why I ask for your vote in the upcoming special mayoral election on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.” – Acting Mayor D.J. Beauregard
